MODERN PARALYMPIC SPORT: PROSPECTS FOR ITS DEVELOPMENT

The article examines the role of Paralympic sports and its significance for people with disabilities. The actual problems that are an obstacle to the realization of sports achievements of disabled people are identified. The possible prospects of Paralympic sports, its history and state support for disabled athletes are also considered.
Relevance. The relevance of this topic is determined by the presence in society of a significant number of people with disabilities. In Russia, as in the whole world, the number of disabled people is growing, which leads to their transformation into an increasingly significant social group – subculture.
Purpose, tasks. The purpose of the article is to reflect the features and significance of Paralympic sports for people with disabilities through a review of articles. Objectives: to reflect the problems and prospects of the development of Paralympic sports, to study the history of the emergence of Paralympic sports, to identify the psychological and physiological characteristics of people with disabilities involved in sports.
Materials and methods of research. The research materials were scientific sources published in the scientific electronic library elibrary (website https://elibrary.ru ). Research methods: collection of material; review of publications and study, analysis of scientific literary sources; registration of the results of the review; writing an article.
Results and their discussion. Sport for people with disabilities is not only an opportunity to strengthen their body, but also a chance to prove that there is a way out of any difficult situation. Adaptive sport promotes the integration of a disabled person into society. Paralympic sport plays an integral role in the life of every person with disabilities.
Conclusion. The development of Paralympic sports among the disabled is one of the most important conditions for their comprehensive physical, social, professional and medical rehabilitation. The article highlighted the problems, ways to solve them and prospects for the development of Paralympic sports. Paralympic sport is a rehabilitation for people with disabilities, creates conditions for successful life without paying attention to any shortcomings, and strengthens physical strength, enhances emotional resilience during stressful situations, increases communicative activity. The Paralympic Games have a positive impact on people with disabilities. People gain self-confidence and self-esteem, they have an incentive to live and move forward to new achievements and improvements in results.
